~: M H O :~ Headley exposes Pak Govt & 26/11 attack link

Pakistan Prime Minister Yosuf Raza Geelani visited 26/11 mastermind David Headley's home in 2008 reveals Lashkar agents' interrogation report .

Was it just the ISI and the Pakistani defence forces that David Headley was in touch with or did his reach extend to the topmost echelons of the Pakistani government?

The November 26, 2008 terror attack - the biggest ever attack on Indian soil. The attacks left 159 dead. After investigations, all trails have led to Pakistan. But now there is more damning evidence of Pakistan's role in one of the world's deadliest terror attacks.

NIA report based on confessions of LeT operative David Headley. It clearly establishes the role of ISI, defence forces and shockingly a nexus between Headley and Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Geelani.

The report states that the Pakistani PM visited Headley's house in 2008 when his father passed away, that's a month after the 26/11 attack. Headley was in the US then. Headley's father is not a politician or a senior bureaucrat. So why did the PM personally go there?

Why such a spectacular attack?

Here are the answers as told by Headley to the NIA team that quizzed him in Washington DC, US.

The ISI was under tremendous pressure to energise its Lashkar cadre as well as Kashmiri jihadi groups. These groups, in turn, were identifying more with the Taliban's jihad and the ISI wanted to keep the two groups poles apart.

The ISI also wanted the theatre of violence to shift from Pakistan to India.

Headley also admitted that an attempt was made to carry out the attacks during 2008 Ramzan but the boat with the terrorists capsized.

In fact, the report reveals that there were plans to attack establishments in Delhi as well. But an attack on Raksha Bhavan was aborted as the executioner was denied a visa to India.

Authorities got suspicious because of the man's long beard and was asked to shave and try again.

Headley also gave out more deadly details of what else was planned.

An attack on the National Defence College in Delhi was planned because it would kill more military officers than all the wars between India and Pakistan put together.

But a suicide attack was not considered. The Laskhar now thinks suicide attacks are passé, revealed Headley.

Headley's wives reportedly tipped off US authorities about what the double agent was up to. Whether the US was in the know of Pakistan's gameplan isn't clear from Headley's confessions. But the fact that these confessions were extracted in the presence of US officials in an American prison will embarrass the American establishment as they come before the visit of the US president to India.
