May be it was one of those die-hard India fans who kept stealing MS Dhoni's Max mobiles so that the captain can focus on cricket rather than all the off-field antics. Sadly, Dhoni makes more money than half the population of Ranchi put together and can keep buying new ones.
As the whole of India kept praying India sneaks through to the semi-finals, Dhoni said before the game his side is just looking to play some 'good cricket' and beating Sri Lanka by a desired margin was 'expecting too much.' Come to think of it, it is expecting too much from a team that is full of half-fit men who can be distracted by a candy bar.
So, MSD and men did not even make much of an effort to qualify. They gave their bench strength a game and Dhoni rested his best man Ravindra Jadeja for the 'inconsequential' game.
Gautam Gambhir wasn't much interested in running between the wickets. Understandably so, he has been in cracking form through the tournament with an average of more than nine.
With 90 runs in 10 overs, things were going out of ordinary for India. Runs were flowing, boundaries were coming thick and fast. India were on a roll and the ball was not making them jump like they were walking on broken glass. So the players got uncomfortable under the unusual situation and decided to hand back the initiative to Sri Lanka. They have to start saving their energy for next year's IPL.
Dhoni decided to take charge and promoted himself up the order. Why send the in-form Rohit Sharma? As soon as he walked in, he realised not all bowlers are Irfan Pathan.
In their bowling, Lanka was blessed by some well-known Indian generosity. Dhoni dropped another one, and this time Yusuf Pathan was not even needed to give him a push. Harbhajan Singh, of all days, chose this day to have an off day.
Ashish Nehra, leading the bowling pack, spread the ball all over, and each time the batsman cashed in, he gave the same agony-meets-surprise smile. After so many years, seeing so many Nehra deliveries dispatched with a yawn from the batsmen, the Indian fan can't just get enough of that expression.
And just as the game came down to the wire, and a one-over eliminator was on the cards, Nehra ensured his team mates did not have to go through any more of the ordeal. What was the point? India were already out. Not like he was playing for the Delhi Daredevils, where pride counts for something.
A length ball was sent over the ropes and Sri Lanka pouched the game.
For all the tears that Sangakkara shed because of Yuvraj Singh in the IPL, Dhoni redeemed him for it by gift-wrapping him the game. We, Indians, know how to treat guests.
Dhoni - the so called lucky indian captain, blamed IPL & its parties, i think he forget to mention the names like Shane Watson,Dave Warner,Pollard,Chris Gayle,Jayawardne,Sangakara,Malinga and many many more who were in IPL and enjoyed the late night parties & they are still performing for their own team.
These flat pitch bullies with very little professionalism left in them just want money to come to their door step easily & faster.
Every player has its own characteristics, Listing some here :-
Rohit Sharma - Very classy player who only thinks about his Half centuries & plays for himself , not for the country
Harbhajan - Ask him to do acting on the field.
Ishant Sharma - Will stare & says to the batsman after every ball & still beaten on every ball.
Praveen Kumar - Abuses as soon he takes wicket
Ravindra Jadeja - No power in hands , a poor useless fellow
Sehwag - Powerful striker no doubt - fear of diving & sluggish on the field, Sachin is still better than him at this age.
Gambhir - Watch the highlight if last 3-4 matches.
Dhoni & Raina - You are only one seems to be good in the team but fears from Short balling.Dhoni's luck factor is no more working.
Last but not the least -
Mr Yuvraj Singh - A big tummy , 8 out of 10 times collects the ball in an improper way, can't dive at all as he has several injuries in his body, No doubt about his talent, but that talent was seens years back. The most important thing is attitude. He only makes news outside the Play ground.
There is no doubt on the ability of all these players , but money has actually corrupted their mind so they can't concentrate on world championships.
Two years in a row, India have failed to win a single match in the Super Eights of T20 World Cup. If last year's performance made you see red, this one would have put the entire rainbow in front of you.

Shail
